I have an interest in Feudal Japan and also various types of armor. I just thought I would TRON it up a bit so it looked futuristic with keeping the historically traditional look. So it’s my interpretation that in the future people will still use these Kendo Mens for training but keep the traditional look with the addition of awesome LED lighted trim.
Uncanny Valley
Interactive web audio / visual experience by Altered Qualia for creative platform Fractal Fantasy features photorealistic models with a futuristic twist:
Fractal Fantasy presents ‘Uncanny Valley’, an interactive code experiment by Altered Qualia.
In this piece, Qualia investigates the phenomenon first theorized by Japanese roboticist Masahiro Mori, wherein he found that the closer a non-human entity resembles a human, the more one empathises with it. However, as it comes even closer to absolute human likeness, we instinctively become repulsed.
The soundtrack, provided by Zora Jones, Martyn Bootyspoon and Sinjin Hawke, illustrates the theory with encroaching dissonant intervals and synthetic yet humanesque vocals.
It doesn’t work well on mobile, but is highly recommended to check out, which you can here
